What a mess after Googlebar install

Hi All,
Thought i had stumbled across the cure for IE and OE. Installed Mozilla
1.2.1, and imported favorites, set up Mail and imported messages, address
book etc. all without a hitch.
Did some skinning that added to the wow factor, and then added a spell
checker from mozdev.org.
All is still well in mozville... then i installed the googlebar from the
link below.
http://googlebar.mozdev.org/

I got an error showing up at the bottom of the screen, no search bar just
this occupied space with the error message.
After researching and finding a lot of other users with the same problem, i
attempted a few suggestions for getting it to work with no luck.
Didn't realize there was no uninstall associated with most or all of these
add-ons ughh!!
Well i made a mess of things to the point where im at now.
I tried uninstalling by deleting certain folders, and lines from a few
various files as described here:
http://googlebar.mozdev.org/about.html#uninstall

Then mozilla wouldn't start, i tried undoing my changes, and was successful
the first time, but then got greedy and tried getting it all to work again,
and things got messy.
Mozilla wouldn't run again, and i tried uninstalling mozilla which hung
during the uninstall. Rebooted W2K in safe mode, and completed uninstall
without a hitch.
Tried reinstalling, and Mozilla hung as soon as i tried starting it.
Uninstalled again, edited the registry and deleted all references to
mozilla. Also deleted folders left behind after uninstall.
Reinstalled to a different directory and after install mozilla still wont
run. (just hangs when clicking on icon).
Someone please tell me how to clean up this mess.

Thanks

Then I'd run regclean and reboot. Pain I know but that should sort it.
For future info The new version of the Googlebar does have some probs
with the latest releases of Moz. The way I fixed mine was to install
Googlebar 0.46 - this gave the initial error - then installed 0.45 -
which cleared the error - and then reinstalled 0.46 and all now works well.
I am having the same problem. 0.45 seems to be working while upgrading
to 0.46 fails ...

The uninstallation instructions remove the googlebar as well as the
navigation bar ...
